THIS YEAR IS QUICKLY DRAWING TO AN END AND WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT WHAT LIES AHEAD FOR US IN 2023…

If you wish not to receive these emails and updates, please select the “Unsubscribe” button located at the bottom of this email to remove your email address from our mailer list. There are some valuable information shared on these updates and our aim is not to flood your inbox with unnecessary emails, but to keep you updated every once in a while as to what’s happening here at Civic.

PATIENTS WITHOUT A NAMED GP

With Dr’s Ian Bryce and Ros Gellatly retiring in recent months, we are aware that some patients have been left in limbo without a named GP. Some patients have already seen a new Doctor and have been able to switch to them, which is great.

We have now made a plan to move Dr Bryce’s patients to Dr Henry McKee until April next year, when Dr Tomi Moore will join us in a permanent placement and Dr McKee will return to Ireland. Dr Gellatly’s patients and any others in limbo, will be placed with Dr Lynsey Cockerill.

We are aware that some patients wish to be placed with some of our existing Doctors. Unfortunately, this is not possible, at this stage.  These Doctors are already carrying a large patient load and are over-subscribed.  It is unsafe and not in the best interest of the Doctor or patient to further add to this load. As their current patients will already be aware, there is an extensive wait time to get an appointment with these GPs and adding more patients would add to this.  If they do have capacity in the future, we will be sure to let people know.

Some history on our new GP’s…

Dr Henry McKee - MBBCH, MRCGP

Henry has been with us since April 2022 and will be with us until April 2023. He’s a very experienced GP who has owned and run his own GP Practice in Ireland and locumed in some very interesting places. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. Henry and his wife are very active runners and like a good adventure. They enjoy the outdoors and have already explored various places in Marlborough and other parts of the country.

Dr Lynsey Cockerill – MBCHB, MRCGP

Lynsey arrived at the end of September 2022 and has been working hard on getting to know her new patients and learning the NZ Health systems. She’s an experienced GP who has also had roles that include teaching of junior medical staff and working in military and prison environments in the UK.  Lynsey and her husband enjoy the outdoors and you may see them about enjoying all that Marlborough has to offer with their dog, Boulder.

Dr Tomi Moore - MBCHB FRNZCGP

We are looking forward to welcoming Dr Tomi Moore to our team in April 2023.   Tomi is shifting to Marlborough with his family from Wairoa and originally comes from the UK. Tomi worked in Dunedin and married a Southland girl, before moving to Wairoa for experience in a rural practice.  It will be a warm Marlborough welcome back to the South Island for this family.

Dr ROS GELLATLY - NLP & HYPNOTHERAPY CLINICS

A word from Ros…

“I’ve been privileged to be a GP since 1984. I have always been interested in people and how they view the world. I was seeing rising levels of anxiety, especially in younger people.

Four years of burnout with life getting smaller and smaller, feeling absolutely drained, made me find my way to a life coach in the Your Life Live It (YLLI) family.

From that I did the Ultimate Transformation Course looking for my way forward. It didn’t feel like a “miracle” but it has been. I’ve got joy back in my work life becoming a coach in this wonderful organisation.

Working with Neural Coding® I now have tools to help people in profound ways. I’m adding further hypnotherapy skills.”

NOVEMBER IS DIABETES MONTH

Quote from Diabetes NZ 2022…

“November is Diabetes Action Month, an annual month of action for Kiwis with diabetes.

Diabetes Action Month is Diabetes New Zealand’s annual campaign that encourages action, education, awareness and advocacy for New Zealanders with all types of diabetes and their Whānau, as well as those at risk of diabetes.

EMAILS

We are seeing an increase in the use of emails by patients to communicate with their Doctor. This is through Manage My Health and also directly. This is a great way to send information and to send simple requests but the workload involved can be too much.

Please do not use emails for urgent enquiries,

Doctors will get to the emails but with a full day of patients and all the paperwork that it brings, these are not priority. This includes any emails received requesting a prescription – it may be longer than 48 hours.

Please do not use emails instead of a consultation,

If an email is received that is requesting medical advice, it may be rejected and the patient may get a call to make an appointment.

Please be aware that email replies may incur a charge,

It takes time for our Doctors to answer emails and complete the work required, ie prescriptions, referrals or an email reply. This can equate to the time and work the same as a consultation and charges will be incurred for this work. Any email that requires more than a Yes or No answer will incur a charge.

MASKS

It is lovely to have the freedom of no Masks in our Community. As a medical practice, we are still required to wear masks and that our patients and visitors also wear masks.

This is to keep you, our vulnerable patients and also our team safe. We cannot look after you, if we are not well so we are trying to avoid any of the team getting sick. It is also a Government requirement and we have to follow it.

If you are unable to wear a mask, let us know.   We are happy to see you but need to ensure we are all safe so can arrange for you to be seen in Consult room 10 and not have you wait in the waiting room for your safety and for our vulnerable patients.

Please be aware of distancing while in the Practice. We have invested heavily in HEPA air filters and ensuring our ventilation is above adequate to help prevent the spread of virus’s.

RESPIRATORY SYMPTOMS

Although we have seen a decline in the number of cases of Covid-19, we are still seeing a lot of respiratory cases of colds, flu-like viruses and there is a lot of hay-fever about.

If you have any respiratory symptoms, cough, runny nose or flu symptoms, do not come into the Practice and call us to arrange the safest way for us to see you. We are using Consult room 10 for all respiratory cases keep them out of the main waiting areas in the Practice.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS

We want to take this opportunity to thank the patients that are so kind to our team.  We really value the time people take to say how much they appreciate our team and send a thank you.   It really does make our days a lot brighter.
